Cape Lookout state park is one of the best spots on the Oregon coast for camping, walking on the beach, hiking to breathtaking viewpoints or just taking in the sunset. I have stayed there more times than I can count and I will continue to return whenever I can. This video contains footage from 6 different trips within the last few years. Many of the trips there have involved extreme rainfall and even an atmospheric river. I bring a tarp to cover my tent in order to try to weather the frequent storms. It's always an adventure and there's so much to see and do. I was surprised by a sealion who blended in to the rocky shoreline and was scared to death when it moved right next to me. I am usually visited by raccoons at night, which is a delight. Harbor seals can be found in Netarts bay. I usually see them when taking the 10 mile walk down the Netarts spit from the campground. Nearby Sandlake recreation area can be heard from atop Cape Lookout. If you take the south trail down there you can watch the offroad vehicles driving recklessly. One SUV even toppled and landed upside down after attempting to drive off a sand dune. I tour the campground and show clips from each of the major trails of Cape Lookout: the cape trail, the north trail and the south trail. I also show footage from the Netarts Spit including drone videography. This location is one of the most scenic spots in the world. It's always a good idea to visit.
