Every year it feels like my kit changes quite a bit as I test new things in better efforts to be a more well rounded hiker. I also like to try different gear so that I can better help others! Because of this youtube channel, I want to be able to advise others on what works and what doesn't. It's been a fun journey across the Appalachian Trail, the Pacific Crest Trail, Arizona Trail, and so many others inbetween. After all these years however and some items have really stood out among the rest. It doesn't mean any other gear is bad, I've loved so much of that too! But that for one reason or another, the backpacking gear in this video seems more interesting, and has never let me down in any way. From a book by Ray Jardine that has taught me so much, to a japanese style of fly fishing known as tenkara, a budget hiking shirt by columbia, and a flat tarp by zpacks.
