The Oregon Dunes are ones of my favorite regions in the world. I visit whenever I can and am continually inspired by their ethereal qualities. This video contains footage from day one of my 4 day August 2025 southern Oregon coast trip along with clips from previous visits to the Oregon Dunes in 2022 and 2024. I planned the trip around a reservation at Cape Blanco State Park and decided to stay for 2 nights on the southern edge of the Oregon Dunes and then make my way farther south to Cape Blanco. I absolutely love tent camping in the Oregon Dunes; there is something special about the area. I was a bit put off by the fact that people were intentionally occupied my campsite when I arrived, but at least they moved. There is apparently sometimes a volunteer camp host at the campground, but from what I've read of the reviews, there is hardly ever one on-site, which gives people free-run of the place. I explore the Horsfall Dunes and learn about the history surrounding the site (of the wild mares that used to roam.) I walked around Bluebill lake and then made the short walk to Horsfall Beach and campground. The weather took a turn for the gloomier, but I embraced it and enjoyed experiencing what I consider to be authentic Oregon Coast weather: foggy, grey and slightly rainy. I walked along the Wild Mare trail and then through the Wild Mare horse camp on my way back through a patch of dunes back to my campsite. The last clip of the video shows the departure from Bluebill campground as I drive south through North Bend on my way to Seven Devils State Park which will be featured in the next upcoming video.
