Steaming Chimney

A 5ºF morning with the stove blowing out steam, not smoke. See how white and wispy it is? That's the steam as it hits the cold air and condenses into tiny water droplets. It doesn't appear until it rises a little bit above the chimney, and it evaporates again quickly - within about 10-15 feet from the top of the smoke stack - because the outside air is so dry. Smoke would look brown or blue, and wouldn't evaporate because it is made of solid particulate matter.
