Is Carl Lake The Most Beautiful Lake In Oregon?- On July 1, 2017 my friend Randi and I wanted to hike up to Browder Ridge, however by the time we had to make the decision at the turn off, it was still very overcast, which meant no views. So we looked at what was semi nearby and decided to go to Carl Lake. The directions in my hiking guide book were completely wrong (missing 4 sentences of directions), so it took us almost 2 hours to find the trailhead and so it was 11am by the time we got there. This hike was absolutely magical and just 4 weeks later this whole Jefferson Wilderness area was shut down due to a dangerous wildfire. I am so glad we were able to discover this gem before it got shut down for the season!
