Leaving Namche behind, we begin the long trek further into the Himalayas. Most of the first day was spent climbing steadily up the valley towards Dole, where we stop for the night after one of the toughest days of the whole trip. From there the landscape starts to get a lot more alpine. Fewer trees, colder mornings, bigger peaks and thinner air. We continue on to Machermo, waking up to fresh snow and beautiful sunrise before making the final day's climb into Gokyo. We finally break the 5000m mark with an early morning climb up Gokyo Ri. Easily one of the most ridiculous views I've ever seen - with Everest, Cho Oyu and endless Himalayan peaks lighting up around us. Still plenty left ahead. First up is crossing the Ngozumpa Glacier, before tackling the Cho La Pass and onto Everest Base Camp. Huge thanks to our guide and friend Pasang for making this whole trek possible and keeping us safe. If you're planning a trip in Nepal and want the best guide, check out Himalayan Rambler.
