History made on the highest natural free falling waterfall in Norway!🧗 ⛏️ 🧊 On February 18th, Tanja and Heike Schmitt became the first women to ascend the 273 meter tall Vettisfossen. Together with Matthias Scherer they grabbed this rare opportunity to climb the Wi6 graded route, soloing the bottom section before 5 pitches in a 6.5 hour effort to the top of the waterfall. They've scouted the location 4 times, but it was not until this season that it was finally climbable for the first time in many years. Vettisfossen has its own significance in Norrøna’s history. When Henry Barber climbed the first ascent in 1977 he introduced Tomas Carlström to Gore-Tex, leading to our first order of Gore-Tex fabric and the prototype for Europe's first Gore-Tex jacket. #WelcomeToNature #Norrøna #iceClimbing
