Alaska's Relentless Cold -60°F | Day to Day Life, Repairs & Winter Canning

Extreme cold is a normal part of the winter months in Interior Alaska, adventures are taken and work around the property continues despite the weather. There are constant repairs and troubleshooting that comes along with this lifestyle we choose to live. December brought a cold spell with temperatures hovering at -50 degrees Fahrenheit for weeks, shifting our focus to keeping our structures warm and repairing or solving what problems arose. The price we pay to live in the North can be high but we are constantly rewarded with nature's sublime scenery and homegrown or nature harvested delicious food.
