Climbing on slab can be terrifying... How do you trust your feet smearing on volumes?! Here are Coach Billy's top tips for Sketchy Slab 101! ✅Drop your heels when smearing on volumes. This increases the surface area of your shoe making contact with the surface. ✅Place your foot on the part of the volume far from the wall, this directs your centre of mass into the wall. You can do this to a degree on those larger foot holds too. ✅Think about keeping your hips to the wall and over your feet. If your hips stick out behind you, you may peel away from the wall. ❌Don’t have greedy feet! ✅On small footholds, preempt your next foot move and leave space for your other foot if you need to match or foot swap. ✅On balance-y climbs, move slow, take your time and focus on maintaining your balance, not just moving to the next hold. ✅Recognise those times when a bit of momentum and coordination is necessary. These kinds of moves might require some rehearsing. Have you got any other tips for climbing on slab? #SlabClimbing #Bouldering #BoulderingforBeginners #ClimbingTraining #LatticeTraining
