Hot, Humid, and Done with the Lake | Florida Trail Day 8

Day 8 was a major milestone — I officially finished the Lake Okeechobee Scenic Trail loop and turned northbound on the Florida Trail. The terrain shifted from endless levee walking to dusty dirt roads. It’s hot, humid, and exhausting out here… and somehow, I’m once again craving strawberry milk just like I did on the PCT. Late afternoon heat forced me to stop earlier than I planned. No other hikers around — just a couple local bikers cruising by while I wondered, Where is everyone? Still, I’m feeling driven.
