Hiking At Windy Lakes- Windy Lakes is a wonderful 10.65 mile out and back hike in the heart of the Diamond Peak Wilderness. This hike offers over a dozen ponds, small and larger lakes where one can camp, swim and fish. These lakes are only accessible in August and September due to late snow hanging around on the road and the mosquitoes being completely unbearable in June and July. The best time to come here is mid to late September when all the bugs are gone and the fall colors start to pop.
