Kīlauea's Episode 49 volcanic eruption turned out to be historical and really spectacular as a mixture or trade and variable winds helped to produce some of the largest and tallest vortexes 🌪️ ever witnessed in Kīlauea's documented history. Puahiohio "Hawaiian for dust devils" or Volcanic whirlwinds (sometimes referred to as "lava devils" or "fire whirls") form when intense heat from lava or fresh volcanic material rapidly warms the surface air, forcing it to rise quickly into the cooler air above.
