No, Republicans and Democrats Are NOT the Same

Every time I criticize what's happening on the political right, I get the same comment: "Both sides are just as bad." No!! Politics has always had corruption. I've criticized Democrats. I've criticized Oregon's Democratic leadership on mental health. I'll continue to call out bad policy wherever I see it. But I refuse to pretend that ordinary political dysfunction is the same thing as attempts to undermine democratic institutions, attack constitutional protections, weaken civil rights, roll back protections for public lands, or concentrate power in ways that threaten accountability. Those are not equivalent. This video isn't about saying one political party has never made mistakes. It's about rejecting a false equivalency that prevents honest conversations about what's is happening right now. Whether we're talking about public lands, democracy, the Constitution, women's rights, LGBTQIA+ rights, immigration, or environmental protections, we have to be willing to evaluate actions on their own merits instead of hiding behind "both sides." Disagree with me if you want. But don't tell me they're identical. Because they're not.
